18 new survivors located in Gabon, Africa.  Also known as “Earth’s Last Eden”.  I wonder if there will be any “Adam and Eve” themes or competitions that come up?  Who knows…

First off I have to say what the heck got into Natalie? She’s gone from a mute to a crazy woman and is really making herself out to be one of the craziest and most insane survivors I’ve seen in a LONG time. So before I can get into crazy Natalie we must go back to the beginning. It all began directly after Ozzy’s departure where Amanda and James weren’t too happy. They realized Parvati screwed them over and are no liking it. James and Amanda therefore created a strong pact, which was not seen in China, which I feel will continue throughout this game. Overall both said its finally time for them to start playing the game and that they did.

Back at camp Erik was sucking up to everyone, telling them that it was the “right move” to not tell him Ozzy was going as he would have told Ozzy. Erik agreed that it was good to get Ozzy out but I have a feeling deep down he misses his “zoo keeper”. Everyone then realized Amanda and James weren’t happy and it seems as if they were kind of avoiding everyone back at camp. Parvati took the most head from the two and spoke to each separately. As she talked to Amanda it seemed as if things were ok between the two. Amanda then told us in private that she has to make Parvati believe she isn’t angry since she is running the show right now. That’s a good move for Amanda to make considering it seems the game has shifted in favor of the ladies.

Parvati then spoke with James who reprised his famous “don’t bite the apply quote” but this time referring to Parvati voting Ozzy out. He told her to her face that things weren’t good between them anymore and let her know things will be akward. He also pulled the quote out as they spoke giving Parvati a shocked look on her face. I don’t understand why she feels that James wouldn’t be mad. Ozzy was his number one ally in the game and she, someone he used to be able to trust, just betrayed him and his friends.

At the reward challenge a familiar favorite was played, the Survivor auction. This time around there was a slight twist as players could not share money or food like in previous seasons. Food was won most of the time as Cirie won a hot dog and fries, Erik won some nachos, Amanda won a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and James won some bats. Technically Natalie won the bats but James ate them for free since she didn’t want them. Next up was a prize that would change the game dramatically. Natalie, who began her crazy streak right here, won a “note in a bottle” to send someone to Exile Island. Jeff also said that the hidden idol was re-hidden with new clues since it went out the door with Ozzy last round. Natalie quickly sent Jason to exile and also received all of his money. She then won a cake in the next auction where she quickly chose Cirie, Parvati and Alexis to share it with. She went somewhat crazy here saying she didn’t have any food so they couldn’t “hog the cake”. Another catch was they only had a minute to eat which led to a very interesting chow down of chocolate cake ending in Erik licking the rest off of Cirie’s fingers.

Back at camp it seemed as if the rush of sugar caused Natalie to go all bi-polar and become a psycho woman. How can we never see this girl on the show and then BOOM she becomes the star. All the girls were in a pow-wow and knew that Jason would find the idol on exile island, which he did end up doing. They then came up with a plan for Natalie to speak to Jason at the next immunity challenge to tell him to let anyone else but himself win. Natalie would then tell Jason that she and the other ladies are voting James out of the game, making Jason think that he is safe in in a result not play the hidden idol. I must admit it is a genius plan but Natalie’s reactions to her new found craziness was priceless. She had to call Jason “that bitch” about 20 times in two seconds and discussed how she will get all the guys “at the jugular” then floss her teeth with their jugular vein. She then simulated this and the thought seriously makes me wonder how this girl passed the psych test.

At the immunity challenge all went to plan as Natalie got a chance to tell Jason not to win. They didn’t want James to win since that was their second choice to go and they all wanted Erik to stay since it was his birthday. The challenge was a rehash of past challenges they had. The first four to break a clay dish and drop puzzle pieces would move to the next round. James, Jason, Erik and Amanda moved on where they had to dig up a key, unlock more pieces. They then had to put together a puzzle wheel and lower two planks. The first two to do this were James and Erik and both moved to the last round. The first of the two to get across a rope bridge using the two planks would win immunity. It was tight up until the last second where Erik beat James by mere seconds. The girls on the sidelines had some nice reactions as they knew if James won their plan wouldn’t go down as planned.

Back at camp the girls were jumping for joy as their plan could go into action. When Jason went to catch some fish Natalie sprung into action and searched through Jason’s back for the idol. She did indeed found it and then went to Jason to tell him James would be leaving. Of course she knew James wouldn’t be leaving but had to make Jason think that he was so he wouldn’t use the idol. James, thanks to the girls, did think he was in fact the one going that night but Amanda told him otherwise. She didn’t really tell him the plan but told him enough that he probably understood what was going to happen. In the end the blindside took place once again with a deja vu moment. Just like last week Jason and the idol were sent packing thanks to the girls. Next week it seems we may have another medical emergency as foreshadowed by earlier in this episode. James’ finger is pretty bad and even Cirie, who is a nurse, acknowledged it wasn’t getting any better. Will another favorite been sent home thanks to an injury? We’ll have to wait and see.

Have you seen the CBS advertisement for Survivor? The “Fans” are really going to be challenged this year. Questions to ponder; will there be more than one hidden immunity idol (James..), will there be exile island againwith the clues (maybe Fairplay should be on this island all the time), and will the “Favorites” just be to smart for their own good to even come close to the other tribe. Ok the time is getting closer and Johnny and his pals are acting like they will be the tribe to beat in this seasons Survivor. Let the countdown begin to only 19 days to showdown and already Johnny Fairplay is talking smack. Hi! I hope everyone is ready for a very interesting season of Survivor. I will be writing for the Survivor Blog and what better season to write for then when Johnny Fairplay comes back to town. What will he do this time to try and win? Then we have James back and we hope he remembers to actually use the Immunity idols. Well, just wanted to introduce myself and thank everyone for staying with the Survivor Blog. We will keep these blogs full of information as often as we can. Feel free to let us know how to make this blog better for all of you.

Yes it is true.  The schemer schemed his way to victory in China.  22 year old Todd Herzog was able to scheme, lie and backstab his way to a 1 million dollar payday.   The vote ended up 4 for Todd, 2 for Courtney and only 1 for my personal favorite Amanda.  Basically when all was said and done, Todd was ready for the jury, had answers for everyone, gained respect from the Jury for playing the “game” and playing it off as it was just a game an nothing personal.

Todd was only 14 when Survivor premiered and since then studied the game and knew what he was doing.  He got an alliance from day one (which all of us Big Brother fans know did not work for Kail in Big Brother and kept someone weaker close just in case. (Courtney)  His planned worked like a charm.  The only complaint I have at the end of the reunion show was…WHAT IS UP WITH YOUR HAIR?!?  Oh my….

Anyway…James was voted the most popular member of Survivor China and walks away with 100,000 dollars.  Not bad for looking good and not being smart enough to play the Hidden Immunity Idols that he had!  UGH!!  Denise the Lunch Lady was gifted 50,000 dollars from Mark Brunett (who I am guessing can afford it quite easily) for sharing a story about how she is no longer a lunch lady but a janitor now and not able to be with her family for meal time and all she wants is her job as a lunch lady back. 

Ironically, there have been reports (thanks Big G) that he statement seems to have been a little misleading…

Press Release: Mrs. Denise Martin
December 17, 2007

On the “Survivor China” television program that aired on December 16, 2007, Mrs. Denise Martin, an employee of the Douglas Public Schools, stated that she was demoted from her position as a cafeteria worker upon her return from taping the show. This statement is false. In fact, Mrs. Martin held a full-time position as a custodian prior to her participation in the series, and she returned to this same position upon her return from China. Mrs. Martin was granted - at her request - an unpaid leave of absence so that she could participate in the “Survivor” program. We were pleased and excited to support Denise, and have enthusiastically cheered her on throughout the duration of the show.

Although Mrs. Martin was a cafeteria employee prior to her selection as a contestant, she asked to be considered for a promotion to full-time custodian, and was promoted to this position on March 30, 2007. This promotion came with additional benefits and a higher salary. Following her leave, she then returned to this same position.

Regretfully, the Douglas Public School District was inaccurately portrayed as failing to be accommodating to an employee during what the District viewed as a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity. This is far from the case. On the contrary, we granted all requests made by Mrs. Martin so that she could participate in the “Survivor” series. Since Mrs. Martin was on an approved leave, her position was held open for her, and she returned to this same position upon her return from China. As a District, we make every effort to support our employees, and will continue to do so.

So after all is said and done, another Season of Survivor, another Season where I guessed WRONG on who would win.

So last night we found out that Peih-Gee is still a person…but unfortunately no longer in China!

She seemed to have a good connection after she was left behind with Amanda while Denise, Courtney and Todd hung out at the great wall of China.

The immunity challenge was a revisit of challenges from before and definitely helped Amanda since between Denise not being able to get by stage 2 (eating a balute) and if by chance Courtney would have made it to the final part there is no way she would have swung that sword and been able to cut through the ropes.

Amanda won immunity and was guaranteed a spot in the Final Four.

With the way they all look at Todd as being the hated one, I think the 3 remaining ladies all hope to bring him with to the final 2.  Also I think there will be a final 2 and not a final 3 since Jeff said yesterday on the promo there will be 3 more tribal councils which to me means 2 more then the live reveal of the winner.

So the fun starts on 7PM Central on Sunday.  I am planning on writing a blog post that afternoon so everyone on the mailing list will get a reminder.  Since they have been having the finale on Sunday I have actually missed a few since I am not used to watching Survivor on Sundays!  Go figure!

I think tonight’s show marks a very historic tribal council in Survivor history…and the laughing of the jury members…and the smiles of the 6 other players still in the game should speak very loudly.

James did not play the hidden immunity idol before the votes were read…and thus he was eliminated 5 to 1 to 1.

Todd got 1 vote. (from PG)

PG got 1 vote. (from James)

James got the other 5 votes.

…and with that James the hunky grave digger was buried and voted out of China.

I don’t know about you but when Jeff asked if anyone had the hidden immunity idol and they showed James going toward the bag at his feet I thought he was going to play it.  My guess is that is a clever edit from him doing something earlier during tribal council but I am a sucker for that stuff.  I love the clever editing they do.  Very good stuff. 

 So ladies…sorry to say that the hunky gravedigger is now gone.  No more watching him run around without a shirt anymore.  I guess you will have to start watching and drooling over Erik or maybe even Todd (just teasin ladies).

I would love to hear your thoughts….do you think James made the all time worst decision since Marcelas did not use the Power of Veto and was eliminated?  Who will be the next person voted out?  Which one of our final 6 will become the Sole Survivor of Survivor China?  I look forward to reading your comments.

The Merge

Yep, it happened.  Before any challenge…just about right outta the gate.  Drop those buffs and put on the brand spankin’ new black ones.  Let the Festivities begin.

Well..first, let’s get up to date.  Courtney and JR can’t stand each other.   We know now James has both authentic hidden Immunity Idols.  On the back of each is the message IDing it as an idol.  James knocks loose the first one at Zhan Hu tribe (having already been given the one from the Zei Long tribe site prior to the switcheroo).  It doesn’t have the ‘writing’ on it.  He gets the other one down.  The writing is there.

Jamie and Erik find the tossed unauthenticated one on the ground and of course go thru James’ stuff to see if there might be another one.  We are left to wonder if they know the difference.  This happens when James and PG are off together on the beach.

Now, to the Merge.  The Survivors are treated to ceremonies, food, etc.  JP warns them before they go that the ‘game does not stop’.  Of course, we, the audience, knows what this means…as do some of the survivors.

Long story short.  We get to see dancers, acrobatics and lots of color and flair.

Immunity

It is a challenge based on observations of the festivities.  Frosti figures he’s screwed since he says his memory is lousy.  It gets down to Frosti and Jamie with the question as to what the female dancers were wearing on their feet.  Frosti states no fair since he wasn’t looking at their feet.  We’re getting to see Frosti’s personality come out finally.  Cool!

Jamie’s answer details silk stockings with bells… Frosti’s response:  Nothing.  In that the dancers were bare footed.

Frosti is this season’s first Individual Immunity.

The Alliances

JR threatens Todd that if he (JR) is booted out, he will hold Todd personally responsible…rather than Amanda since JR considers Todd the mastermind with the influence.  And JR states he will make damn sure Todd does not win since JR believes he has such grand influence on others (the upcoming jury members).  Todd just agrees and rolls his eyes.

James was so cool.  He and others get the picture.  They know the game and feel Courtney is a loose cannon… not thinking about the game…. just her disgust with JR.

Of course Zhan Hu tribe members want the war between Courtney and JR to take roots and continue.  Hoping to get JR voted out.

Jamie figures she will carry the ‘idol’ to tribal and use it in case she  has the most votes against her.

Tribal Council

A mishmash of arguments.  JR trying to demonstrate why Courtney will be no threat in challenges and will make it to the finals.  PG, etc. telling JR’s faults.  And, I loved it when James says JR needs to just quit talking and get his head in the game.

Jamie asks Jeff P. a combo question/statement that she wants to present what she thinks is the hidden Immunity Idol.  Jeff looks at it (giving no clue to what authenticates it) and states it is not an idol.  Jeff tosses it in the fire.

Jamie and JP receive the votes and it’s bye bye Jamie.

Last week….well…. no reward challenge due to the switch.  But, never fear, there was a Tribal boot.

This will be quick blog.  Busy here on the homefront.  My apologies for not getting this written sooner.

The Tribes had to choose two members they wanted to come over from the other side.  Fei Long chose Frosti and Sherea.  Zhan Hu chose Aaron and James.  Thing is Zhan Hu thought they were getting the two from Fei Long without having to give up any of their members.  Duh!

The switch happens and the games begin.

Immunity Challenge:

The two females on Zhan Hu thought it would be strategic to throw the competition so that one of the switched (James or Aaron) would be voted out… and what was their thinking?  Go figure.  Guess they don’t count on Fei Long voting out either Sherea or Frosti if they lose next time and Zhan Hu would gain on the lopsided numbers?  Geez.

End Result:  Aaron is voted out.  But, get this… Aaron thought he was going with his new tribe and cast his vote for James.  Ding dong!

The Hidden Immunity Idols were not shown to be found yet.  The previews do try to indicate that they are spotted this week.  Unless it is clever editing.  Will see.
